Olympic National Park, WA, 2018
I painted this scene based on a photo my friend took while visiting Olympic National Park in Washington. At the time, I had dreamt of visiting to witness the park’s lush emerald beauty. Flash forward two years, and I had the opportunity to work in the park building trails in the backcountry. My team built a staircase using a fallen cedar tree right at the worksite. We stripped our own planks from the tree and everything! Being able to build something using exclusively native materials was such an incredible experience, and Olympic National Park will forever hold a special place in my heart.
