This painting is an ode to myself and my home. Often, I create paintings as gifts for my loved ones. When I realized that I didn’t own any of my original paintings, I decided to make the red oak. I chose to paint this tree because of its grand and glorious character, valued for centuries by many cultures and for millennia by wildlife. To me, the red oak represents my home, the Pennsylvania wilderness.
