The Red Oak, 2023

I made this painting for myself. Typically, I create paintings as gifts for my loved ones. When I realized that I didn’t actually own any of my original paintings, I decided to make the red oak. I chose to paint this tree because of its grand and glorious character, valued for centuries by many cultures and for millennia by wildlife. To me, the red oak represents my home, the Pennsylvania wilderness.
